VOICE? SPEECH PROBLEM?

-I take speech cause i cant speak right.i cant say my 'R's or ing right well i can but thats if i really try. I been taking speech since i was little and i was force out this year. People think i have a British, new york, boston, or some other accent. people always ask what accent i have and few people say i dont have an accent. Alot of people love my accent. my teachers make me repeat what i say cause they love my voice. And then alot of people hate it and they cant stand me talking at all. I dont talk much cause people cant understand me or make fun of me.Whats ur opinion on peoples voice i think it shouldnt matter. but im starting high school soon and i wanted to know if i should care what people think about my speech problem. I also do drama and i love it. my drama teacher says im a great actress but the only thing holding me back is my voice. But she says i should continue it in high school. Should i?

oh i was born in Kentucky (idk if that has to do with my accent)

Sorry this was long and probably confusing. and i ask multiple questions

but please answer honestly

thank youHaving a unique sounding voice is fine for an actor as long as people can understand what you are saying. It could even be something that makes you memorable and marketable. If you are serious about trying acting, I would suggest you continue to see a speech therapist or voice teacher to help you improve your diction.

As you get older, you will meet people and make friends who think your "accent" is great and that it makes you special. Your high school years will be tough if you care too much about what people think about you... once you graduate and go on to college or a career you will look back and realize that those 4 years weren't as monumental as you thought.it's important that people are able to understand what you are saying without going, "what? what?" every 5 seconds...
to me idc about accent as long as i can understand them
